The Government of Tripura introduced Mukhyamantri Sports Development Scheme – Retired Person, a scheme inaugurated on 9 February 2024 under the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports. The program is meant to employ the retired sports persons and the older physical instructors through the provision of short term contractual employment in the gymnastics and swimming fields.
This welfare programme does not only target to tap into the expertise of seasoned sporting professionals but also helps them with a stable income every month.
What Is the Mukhyamantri Sports Development Scheme (Retired Person)?
The scheme offers former sports professionals in Tripura the right to work and ensures them a steady regular salary of 30,000 every month. The successful candidates are then hired to be consultants in certain fields of sports on a contractual basis.
The contract is applicable to a period of up to 6 months with the likelihood of extension and curtailment. Nevertheless, overall engagement cannot be more than 5 years or the 64 th year of the applicant, whichever is earlier.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Mukhyamantri Sports Development Scheme – Retired Person, the applicant must:
- Be a permanent resident of Tripura
- Be a retired sportsperson or senior physical instructor
- Be below 64 years of age

- Maintain a good service record and integrity
Application Process (Offline)
The offline procedure is to be adhered to by the applicants as per the instructions set by the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports:

Get the prescribed format and make a print-out.
Step 2: Fill in the Required Details
Fill in all the required fields, glue a photograph (the passport size), and enclose all the needed documents (self-gathered where necessary).
